Cooper Lane roundabout
Cooper Lane roundabout

Local residents in Shelf have long raised the issue of the high frequency of road accidents on the Cooper Lane roundabout. My latest step to try and tackle this serious issue is to present a public petition in the House of Commons. The petition reads as follows:

‘To the House of Commons.

The petition of residents of the constituency of Halifax,

Declares that petitioners are concerned about the high number of road traffic accidents and collisions on Cooper Lane roundabout in Shelf; and further that solutions and alternatives must be available when junctions have a high frequency of incidents like this.

The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the Government to reallocate funds to better support and resource Highways England and local authorities like Calderdale Council.

And the petitioners remain, etc.’
