The Rugby World Cup came to Calderdale this Wednesday (5th August) as Halifax RUFC were chosen as one of the host venues for the 100-day Trophy Tour.

Ovenden Park was packed with rugby fans enjoying the many activities on offer including the Crossbar Challenge which saw Halifax MP Holly Lynch trying out her Rugby skills.

Holly said: “Having played rugby union for both Lancaster University and Halifax Vandals, it’s fantastic to welcome the Webb Ellis Cup to Halifax.

“I’d encourage anyone to pick up a ball and give it a go.

“Rugby is for all shapes and sizes and as a smaller player, it certainly taught me how to pack a punch – which is serving me well in politics!”
