MPs will today discuss the report of the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza conflict, in a Westminster Hall debate secured by Holly Lynch. The report outlines violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law in Gaza Strip during military in 2014.

Holly said: “The crisis in Gaza must be understood in a wider context of a 48 year illegal occupation of the Palestine. It is essential that the UK and the wider international community are honest brokers for peace and take practical steps towards addressing the root causes of this conflict, starting by ending the illegal Occupation of Palestine and ensuring that Palestinians are able to enjoy their basic human rights and freedoms.

We can and should do more with our European partners to hold to account violations of international law and those endeavours such as this report. This is a welcome first step and I hope that the Minster will consider and respond to some of the proposals I have made today.”
