Holly has persistently campaigned to retain a full range of services at Calderdale Royal Hospital. It was first announced that the A&E department and other services could be at risk of closure in 2014.

Holly questioned the Prime Minister on the issue at PMQs shortly after being elected, and has held public events to allow local residents to make their views known. She regularly meets with representatives of the Clinical Commissioning Group, Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust, South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust, and Calderdale Council to discuss the future of NHS and social care services in the constituency and ensure that they are run in the best interests of patients.

The latest plans put forward by the NHS propose the retention of the A&E department in Calderdale and nearly £200m of investment has been earmarked to enhance the services at the hospital. There will however be some loss of services in Huddersfield, with some patients from that area expected to travel to Calderdale. These plans are currently being worked up and will be scrutinised by the Joint Health Scrutiny Committee for Calderdale and Kirklees.

Holly continues to take an avid interest in the matter and will argue strongly for the retention of a full range of NHS services at our hospital. She has also consistently argued for more investment in the health service and an end to the privatisation of our NHS.
